Mary Sue and other updatie things

I need to explain to someone what is a Mary Sue. What is a Mary Sue Transformer? I have no idea if men even TF fan males know what one is or not but . . . . your best description of one please.

Now for a bunch of . . .um, just stuff. Nothing much.

Just got new Universe toys Sunstreaker and Prowl. Transformed Sunstreaker today at work and he was hard to transform for the first time. Maybe its my blond hair, don't know. But finally after referring to the instructions so many times I got it. Gives me ideas about how to draw Sunstreaker.

I got a bunch of new art to post. Sadly can't all be here due to adult content or just stepping over that little boundry that would be too much for DA. Two of TF slash will have to go to Wetpaint or Y! Gallery. I'm working on some new pics but not colored yet. Some new Animated stuff. Didn't think I would get into drawing Animated but wow. And one photo of Kato. He doesn't do cute stuff when I have the camera. . . .

Still working on the gaming convention in town, Gamer's Reunion with the rest of the team. We hope to make it a success so we can do it again next year.

I know nothing about websites. How to get one, where to go, how much, or even how to make one. I'm lucky to figure out my Ipod. I'm gathering info on it.

A Mary Sue is typically a term used to describe characters that are too cliche or perfect. Like say a female with magical super powers who can kick Unicron's aft and stuff like that. I'm gonna link you to a few things that might help.

Guess that second link isn't going to work around here. Gave me a smiley instead. Oh well. You can google Mary Sue Litmus test for Transformers and it should pull up some quizzes to grade your characters up against.

I love Comics in Disguise, but I think Thundercracker there is starting to become a Larry Sue. :) Not that there's anything wrong with that) But TC there is so angsty and heroic and c'mon, his ex is Arcee!

About websites, if you manage to purchase some private webspace, Firefox has a new add on called Fire Ftp that makes dtp uploads really simple. All you need for a wesbite is a folder, your html page files (label one 'index'- this will be your homepage), and your image fikles.

I used to have to open Dreamweaver and manually edit and upload my files, but I think with Fire Ftp it will be much easier. I'm setting up a page for my fan perviest stuff--of which there is little :(
Once I do that, I'd be happy to post other people's pervy stuff. I don't know how to code a message board thing where other people can update. I'll look around.

For maintaining a website, it takes about $4O or $50 a year , plus at least $10 ($8.95) a year to maintain a separate domain name. I think we could raise $50 a year if everyone volunteered fanart comissions.

A quick search with google/wikipedia/etc should get you some nice descriptions on what a Sue/Stu is. The rules for a TF one aren't that different.

*Optic colour (yes certain person with a most awful Mary-Sue, that includes the visor colour, allthough of all your Sue's elements, I'm sure you just didn't think the Unicron green through) that deviates from the confirmed faction optic colour(s)?
*Is the character familywise or loverwise related to the writer/drawer's favourite character(s) and does that make for the justification said character(s) behave OOC towards the Sue and in the presence of the Sue? Or better, are crossfaction issues involved (the next time I see a doubting Decepticon or Autobot OC who is the bleeping daughter of Megatron, I start screaming!)
*Is the character exceptionally strong or has an overdose of special traits that aren't balanced by anything (except maybe emotional instability)? Extra fail points if it shows through by the OC not needing more than one sentence to take out characters the author obviously doesn't care about (dear other Suethor, Brawn and Cliffjumper might be smallish and not "hot" according to most fangirls, but one is an old battlemachine and the other has aggression issues. You can't "take them out quickly" and get on with the story).
*Does the character have a tragic past even the canon ones bow to and that makes everyone feel sorry for her/him? Bonus fail points if the Sue's main job in the story is to prove "girls are just as good as boys". Despite what Furman tries to make you believe, sexism among robots is extremely unlikely.
*Robot OC who starts of as human OC? Likely fail.
*(At the risk of insulting a lot of persons I do not intend to insult): Robots are not humans. A female robot with all the curves and shapes of a human female, including a ridiculous waist, over-obvious boobs and what not without any regard for if the main mode should make an/the alt mode possible? Seriously, can I get a femme OC whose alt mode I can believe in or is specifically mentioned to be a noneformer?

And there's much more, but these are about the main signs of a Sue I keep bumping into.

Today's fan parody has been brought to you by the suffix -ing; as in violating, copyrighting, but also forgiving and not-suing.
Ah, man, Sues (or Stus if they're male). Stereotypically, they used to be curvy female versions of a repainted Starscream with long flowing hair that somehow didn't get tangled in their joints during transformation. In the Beast Wars fandom, they were curvy female versions of a repainted Dinobot with long flowing hair that somehow didn't get tangled in their joints during transformation.

Now they've become a tad more diverse but most still inevitably end up in the arms of the author's favorite character after much OOCness and some revelations of familial connections that causes much weeping and angst. Oh and pregnancy, don't forget the pregnancies.

They're so utterly beautiful that everyone falls for them, they're so utterly kind that no one can bear grudges against them or take advantage of them and they're so powerful that any characters that the author doesn't like gets their afts handed to them but they're still so weak that their love interest must fawn over them constantly. Especially during pregnancy.

Gah.

Citizen V: This fight is completely unnecessary!
Deadpool: Blasphemy! All fights are necessary!
I was talking to Tess here about this. I said "pipe dream" now she me thinking it could be a reality. Sadly I know nothing about making a site. With help from a few people we can get this going. I'm guessing you know what I'm talking about since Tess and I talked about it a lot on your last journal! A gallery to TF slash and haven.

I think the site can be funded in two ways: donations. If so many people donated $5 it could add up quick considering how many TF slash fans there are. Also doing donation request art. I did that for Y! where people can make a request and they donate money in exchange.

Have to check out Firefox on this.
Luana showed me once a layout that can be used to upload pics as a gallery. I'll have to get that from her.

I'll note you and ask you more questions on this.
